Job Description

TEAM LEWIS is looking for a dynamic consumer brand comms expert to grow its consumer practice. Consistent with TEAM LEWIS’ ambition to be a leading global creative agency, the Vice President (VP), Consumer will be a conceptual creative thinker. The role will harness the tools and talent to mine insights and develop creative recommendations that will propel our clients’ businesses.

For a consistent proposition and to cascade clients, the VP, Consumer will work closely with the senior consumer brand specialists across the network and serve as trusted senior council to the existing client roster. As the consumer brand lead, they’ll provide oversight and guidance to the consumer account team, driving the management of accounts and pushing channel growth. A member of the US senior team, the VP, Consumer is an active contributor to the overall direction and success of the business.

Purpose of the role

The VP, Consumer will drive the TEAM LEWIS consumer offer by developing and growing the existing practice. The role is responsible for innovation, evolution and profitability. At the heart of the practice must be the ability to develop strategic, insights/data-led creative communication campaigns that engage diverse stakeholders on multiple channels. The VP, Consumer will lead the team to deliver award-worthy communications programs that accomplish clients’ objectives.

Key components of the role are to: act as a beacon for best practice creative ideation; lead new business pitches and convert new business opportunities; spot opportunities to grow existing clients; motivate and grow a hard-working and enthusiastic team.

Core responsibilities

  • Recommend and implement the plan to develop the US consumer brand practice
  • Direct and drive marketing campaigns to generate consumer brand leads
  • Network to cultivate US and global senior client decision makers – a hunter mentality to bring in leads; build relationships with key intermediaries and influencers
  • Lead credentials and pitches, developing the strategic insight, messaging and creative concepts
  • Lead strategically in response to client briefs; inspire the team to innovate, expanding their horizons to conceive and deliver campaigns that surprise and delight clients
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, providing added-value strategic consultancy, creative counsel and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Brief the creative engineering team to bring concepts to life for cross-disciplinary and multi-channel campaigns
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent, consistent service and results to clients; bring rigorous evaluation and measurement to campaign planning
  • Grow client revenues, identifying and securing upsell/cross sell opportunities
  • Set high quality delivery standards and be responsible for resource planning, profitability, budget and cost management
  • Lead and build a team of highly motivated communication and marketing experts: set performance goals for the team, ensure regular feedback and continuous development
  • Interview key potential hires. Help on-board and mentor these hires, setting them up for success
  • Lead and participate in training, as a trainer and by contributing curriculum ideas
  • Be a collaborative, encouraging, supportive member of the US senior team.

About you

Working for a PR or marketing agency, you have experience of running and building a consumer brand or integrated practice. You have an impressive track record of winning accounts across a variety of sectors as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. With strong grounding in PR and experience in digital, social and planning, you are at ease counselling and guiding clients on a broad range of strategies. You know how to put a campaign together which successfully takes a client out of their comfort zone. You are an inspiring, motivational and collaborative leader with the aptitude to structure and coach winning pitch and client teams to deliver service and work of the highest order. Supporting requirements

  • Leader with vision and agility; proven ability to quickly grow and profitably run a business unit, managing the commercials and delivering a top-drawer service to retain and grow clients
  • Experience of consumer tech would be helpful
  • Well-connected in the business and marketing communities; a keen networker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; an articulate and convincing presenter
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task. Will take charge of a situation and act
  • Integrity, humility, self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!
