Join our dynamic team and make your mark on the payments technology landscape of tomorrow.
Zego is seeking a Software Engineer to join the team as a part of the Platform tribe.
TL;DR We are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to help drive the development and support of the Zego Property Management Platform. 6+ years of experience as a professional Software Engineer is a must. Languages are easy to teach, so we don't care so much about what you've done in the past. What we want is someone who can solve complex problems with clean, maintainable code.
What's Great About Zego Engineering? - We follow the Spotify model for how our engineering teams are arranged. This means each squad is lean and focused, with 1 Anchor, 2-4 Engineers, 2 QA/QE and a Product Owner.
- Our code base uses modern technologies, architectures, and best practices.
- Our tech debt is under control, so you won't get marooned on "legacy codebase island".
- Heavily engineering focused teams mean we spend more time solving technical problems than adding widgets to pages.
- An engineering culture that allows you time during the week to improve and hone your skills. We invest in your development as a professional.
- Excellent work-life balance, and early dismissal on Fridays. Helps you get a jump start on your weekend.
How will you make an impact? - You'll provide meaningful contributions to your squad and help to foster a sense of ownership and excellence among squad members.
- As a member of Platform, you'll be able to improve the lives of fellow developers by solving internal engineering problems.
- Participation in the architecture decisions that guide the next generation of the Zego platform.
- Engage with other squads in discovery and design phases.
- Participate in Kanban activities to help direct and shape the squad's internal processes.
- Participate in peer code reviews.
- Mentorship of other squad members and junior engineers.
- Oh, and you'll solve complex problems with clean, maintainable code that stands the test of time.
What you'll need to bring: - Curiosity. Don't be afraid to ask "why". Then ask "why" again. Then, again.
- 6+ years of experience in a professional software development environment
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is helpful, but not required
- Strong debugging and problem solving skills.
- We are sometimes "first responders" when issues arise, and you should have a hunger to figure it out.
- A strong understanding of functional and object-oriented programming techniques
- Most of the work will center around C# and asp.net.
- Previous language experience is NOT important; but you should be comfortable with Node JS, Typescript, React, PHP, Ruby on Rails, C#, or any combination of these and more.
- A willingness to write tests.
- Yes, we know "test" is a 4-letter-word.
- We have QA/QE staff that can help.
- A strong understanding of web mechanics (client/server model, request and response models, security, accessibility, etc etc).
- Experience with Git, GitHub, DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines, and other modern software engineering tools.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Postgresql, or others is very helpful.
- Experience with Docker, containers, linux, command line and more.
- This is a remote opportunity but the expectation is you will be available from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm CST.
The US base salary for this full-time position is $115,000 + bonus + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
