Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory protocols and abilities in laboratory techniques are required. Experience with applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications, is required. Appropriate communications skills are required. (Grade 3 Hourly)
Position Description: The Research Assistant III in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics will under minimal direction, independently perform and/or coordinate a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conducts a variety of complex support tasks and projects determined by the field and scope of the particular research study. This position will also perform a variety of laboratory techniques independently, reporting results to supervisor or other lab personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Will be responsible for molecular biology experiments utilizing specific laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Will be expected to collaborate with other lab members on setting up protocols and even developing new laboratory techniques.
- Will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies and projects as needed.
- Contribute to unit goals by undertaking other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in specialized molecular biology protocols, including biospecimen processing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing methodologies.

This is a part time position working 30 hours per week.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
