Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced medical coder to join our team, focusing on documentation review and accurate coding to ensure timely and compliant claim submissions. In this role, you'll contribute to maintaining high standards of accuracy and adherence to applicable coding guidelines and regulations. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys working with healthcare data, and thrives in a supportive, flexible work environment.

Remote Work Details:

Remote work available after completing on-site training (2-4 weeks)
Candidates must reside within the Portland, OR Metro Area
Flexible working hours: Choose any 8-hour shift between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Required Knowledge and Skills:

Residing in Oregon (OR) or Washington (WA)
At least one (1) year of professional coding experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the healthcare industry
Preferred: Two (2) years of experience working in a healthcare facility
Preferred: One (1) year of professional coding and/or auditing experience in one or more of the following areas:
Evaluation and Management (E&M)
Procedural/Surgical
Emergency Department (ED)
Anesthesia
Proficiency with the EpicCare system is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and medical terminology
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and healthcare professionals
Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

Applicants must hold at least one of the following credentials:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
Certified Professional Coder - Apprentice (CPC-A)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P)
