The Position
The Intergovernmental and Public Affairs Unit is responsible for managing the County's legislative programs in Sacramento and Washington DC. This includes developing the County's Legislative Session Program, initiating legislation, and monitoring State and Federal legislation and budget issues that affect the County. In addition, special projects of an intergovernmental nature are staffed by the unit, including grants.
The Legislative Analyst performs research on and provides interpretation, analysis, and coordination of Federal and State legislative matters impacting the County. The Legislative Analyst also provides staff support in preparing legislative research and positions and performs varied, complex tasks in support of the work of the Intergovernmental and Public Affairs Unit.
This position receives general supervision from the County’s Chief Legislative Officer and may exercise indirect supervision over lower-level professional, technical, and clerical employees.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education, training, and experience that likely would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Typical ways to obtain the required qualifications could include:
Education - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, political or social science, or a related field.
Experience - Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of administrative and managerial duties in a large, complex public agency, including one year in a senior-level administrative or management position.
