Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive audit plans and strategies to ensure effective coverage of financial statements and related processes.
  • Collaborate with executive management to align audit objectives with organizational goals and risk management strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential areas of financial risk.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Oversee the execution of financial audits, including substantive testing, analytical procedures, and compliance testing.
  • Review audit workpapers and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to address cross-functional financial issues and promote a culture of financial accountability.
  • Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and risks to executive management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise audit reports to the Audit Committee and other governance bodies.
  • Evaluate and enhance audit methodologies, processes, and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations and implement necessary adjustments to audit procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance required.
  • CPA or MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of strong audit experience with a demonstrated progression of responsibility required, ideally in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance Industry experience preferred.

  • Proficient in other MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
