All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.IF YOU ARE NOT A CURRENT COURT SYSTEM EMPLOYEE, PLEASE STOP NOW.The In-Court Division of the Anchorage Trial Court is accepting applications for a dedicated individual to become a Court Supervisor 4 (salary range 15).Under general supervision of the Clerk of Court, you will oversee daily operations and supervise clerical staff.Personnel rules will be applied to determine step placement for the successful internal candidate. Regular Job Responsibilities Will Include The Following Human Resource Management Orient and train personnel in the application of court and departmental policies and procedures, court rules, and statutes;Interview prospective employees; hire, dismiss (after supervisory review), and evaluate personnel as required;Schedule, assign, and determine priorities in work duties of subordinates;Monitor the work of subordinates for accuracy and completeness; counsel employees on work performance deficiencies and suggest methods for improvement. Department Management Function as an in-court clerk as necessary to provide coverage for district and superior court and assist with importing documents into OnBase;Interpret new rules and statutes and prepare departmental procedures to comply with changes in rules and laws;Implement changes and prepare written instructions for procedures as necessary;Troubleshoot as necessary any problems with the recorder or related equipment for the clerk and correct malfunctions with or without the aid of an electronic technician;Function as senior staff consultant to the Clerk of Court and Area Court Administrator on problems and projects relating to in-court procedures.Participate in meetings with administrative senior staff regarding case processing and court procedures. The successful candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. Please detail your experience in these areas in your letter of interest.Knowledge of the principles of supervision, management, and training.The structure and function of the Alaska Court System.Skill to operate standard and specialized office software and database applications.Apply and interpret court rules, policies, and procedures.Ability to follow oral and written instructions, organize and assign work to subordinates.Gather and analyze data; reason logically and accurately, and draw valid conclusions.Work cooperatively with others and gain their respect and confidence.Function with a high degree of initiative, independence, and discretion.Provide technical assistance to staff. Work ScheduleThe work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Qualifications Minimum QualificationsGraduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience which includes six months of supervisory or lead experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).ORGraduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience which includes six months of supervisory or lead experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).ORA bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college AND six months of supervisory or lead experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).Note: Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1, Court Case Manager 2, Court Supervisor 1-3, or Chambers Judicial Assistant with the Alaska Court System, or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.Substitution:Additional general office clerical experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required general office clerical work experience on a month-for-month basis.
