Job Description

The Department of Nursing at Augsburg University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach courses in the various nursing programs which include the BSN completion (RNBSN) MA in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNPFNP and postMasters DNP). In addition the nursing department may have opportunities to be a clinical instructor for the DNPFNP track.

 
Priority will be given to a candidate demonstrating interest and strength in teaching with an emphasis on transcultural nursing public health nursing leadership holistic health equity and inclusivity and social justice issues in the discipline. 

This search will establish a pool of instructors if such openings occur during Spring Summer or Fall of 2025. Applicants may be selected from this pool on an asneeded basis throughout the year. 

Available courses vary by term. Most classes are held during the day 1 day per week. In addition to teaching the class and grading student work instructors are expected to respond to student questions through email hold regularly scheduled office hours reach out to students with course progress information and communicate regularly with the course coordinator. A course syllabus with calendar textbook and homework selection sample activities and exams and shared office space are typically provided. Most classes are taught inperson on our Minneapolis campus. Each course requires approximately 1215 hours/week for 1516 weeks. 

The successful candidate will possess both a high level of intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation.

Compensation & Benefits
Subject to the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU Local 284

  • $5500 to $6550 per course*

*Course refers to a typical 4credit undergraduate or 3credit graduate course that has met minimum enrollment requirements.

Please note that due to employment law and payroll regulations we can only employ adjunct faculty who reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. This restriction applies even to courses taught online.

Candidates should be committed to student engagement and student success with a diverse group of learners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion for holistic health transcultural nursing or community health 
  • Academic preparation and teaching experience in nursing education. 
  • Teaching experience in online hybrid and/or inperson formats.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (or in progress) if applying to teach in the graduate programs 
  • Masters degree in nursing if applying to teach in the BSN completion or a clinical instructor position in the FNP track 
  • Licensed and unencumbered registered nurse in the State of Minnesota or eligible for RN licensure in Minnesota.
